movie online doctor strange

dr. stephen strange made his first appearancein 1963, inspired by the pulpy supernatural mysteries of the shadow and the popular radioprogram chandu the magician. created by stan lee and steve ditko, dr. strangewas initially intended only as filler for the popular anthology series strange tales. his first story was only eight pages long,so clearly, marvel had no idea the character would go on to become one of their signatureheroes. here's just a taste of the insane historyof doctor strange. psychedelic origins dr. stephen strange was a brilliant surgeon, but a pretty terrible human being.
but when a car accident messed up his hands, his medical career ended. that incident sent him in search of somethingthat could restore his dexterity. that alternative medicine? weird magic. obviously. understandably, dr. strange's occult adventuresattracted their share of raised eyebrows, mixing well-known characters like spider-manwith lots of unusual cosmology, psychology, and religion. the result was a surreal and metaphysicaltone that made the character an immediate
hit with older readers, but also attractedallegations of having drug themes. the character became an unlikely superhero, albeit one that fought cosmic beings with a magic amulet rather than web-shooters. that kinda thing worked out for harry potter… "amendo!" well, mostly identity theft as the '60s drew to a close, marvel decidedto bring strange in line with marvel's more traditional heroes, since only weirdos fightcrime without a mask.
in 1969's the cult and the curse, the docgives himself a makeover when a bad guy steals his identity. the story sees strange trapped in anotherdimension by asmodeus, who takes the hero's form and heads to earth in hopes of usingthe book of vishanti to unleash hell on earth. strange makes it back in time to defeat asmodeus, though not before a quick costume change that included a fancy new mask, which allows himto pass through a magical barrier…and to fit with marvel's other costumed heroes. by the '70s, his ill-advised wardrobe changehad been all but forgotten. through the looking glass
even though dr. strange's mystical adventureswere inherently weird, readers probably couldn't anticipate just how insane they would get. in 1974, at the height of dr. strange's ongoingpsychedelic phase, "the silver dagger" story arc had the good doctor journeying to lewiscarroll's wonderland after entering his magic crystal, the orb of agamotto. not only did he find a hookah-smoking caterpillarand a gigantic white rabbit, but he also encountered a number of other marvel characters and tookpart in a superheroic tea party. it wouldn't be strange's last encounter withthe caterpillar, either. fake fan mail
in 1974, a dr. strange story by artist frankbrunner and writer steve englehart caught the attention of stan lee. when the marvel head honcho picked up a copyof marvel premiere #14, he took issue with the idea that dr. strange was following godaround as he created the universe. lee reminded the pair that marvel didn't reallymess with god and told them to write a retraction claiming that the god in their story wasn'tthe god, just, y'know, a god. "are you a god?" "no!" to get out of stan's crosshairs, the duo wrotea fan letter from a fake reverend who claimed
to love the storyline. englehart even posted the letter from texasto avoid suspicion and marvel fell for it, printing the writers' bogus letter in placeof their retraction, and dr. strange got to chill with the big guy after all. the benjamin franklin affair englehart's run with the character ended insuitably bizarre fashion. he was taken off the title and replaced byhis editor, marv wolfman, after the memorable dr. strange, master of the mystic arts #18,where strange and his girlfriend clea cross paths with none other than benjamin franklin.
what nobody was expecting, however, was forclea to have a comics code-approved affair with the full-figured founding father, who,we should point out, time magazine once referred to as a "babe magnet." anyway! after taking over, wolfman decided that thiscreepy coupling never actually happened. the homewrecking franklin was revealed tojust be the merlin-wannabe stygyro in disguise. even though dr. strange eventually won, hisarch-nemesis still had his way with strange's girl. "i'm sensing a little electricity right here."
"didn't ben franklin have syphilis?" "yes." gross. black magic in the final story arc of his own title, dr.strange is forced to destroy all of his mystic scrolls and magic doo-dads in order to savethe world from evil alien sorcerer urthona. when the doc returned in '87 for strange talesvolume 2, he got another makeover, after losing an eye in issue #10 and starting to rock aneyepatch. the look worked well for this darker, blackmagic version of the character, but strange
then ended up fusing himself with a demonwarlock from another dimension to create a hybrid being with wavy, blond, glam-rock hair. wonder where he got that idea… "i wanna give you one more piece of advice. get an eye patch man." "i'm sorry?" "get an eye patch." dr. strange vs. amy grant in 1990, dr. strange had acquired an unlikelynemesis: singer amy grant.
that's right, the singer of the song you heardevery time you went pants shopping at marshall's with your mom: "baby, baby, in any kind of weather, i'm herefor you always and forever" here's what happened. the cover of dr. strange, sorcerer supreme#15 used amy grant's likeness without permission. the singer's management sued, but not forcopyright reasons. instead, they were afraid that grant's unapprovedassociation with witchcraft would hurt her image as a christian music singer. marvel settled the suit out of court, andamy grant settled right back into a life of
obscurity. an eye for an eye dr. strange may have abandoned the darkerforms of magic by the early '90s, but his change of heart didn't stop him from teamingup with planet-consuming cosmic entity galactus in 1992's dr. strange, sorcerer supreme #43. in the story, titled "an eye for an eye,"the unlikely pair attempt to find out what has happened to eternity, the abstract leaderof the cosmic powers of the marvel universe. galactus demands to use strange's magicaleye of agamotto to help hunt for eternity, but agamotto just ain't into it.
the mystical being transports strange to hisdimension for a lecture, with agamotto taking the form of that giant smoking caterpillar. strange calls on galactus for assistance, and the pair takes on agamotto in a battle that ends only because agamotto's magicalcounterparts tell him that galactus is beneath him. before leaving, they repeat the first lawof the vishanti, which holds a very familiar sentiment: with great power comes great responsibility. you guys know what this means, right?
uncle ben is a cosmic being. "with great power comes great responsibility." a cosmic being who apparently drives a ’73oldsmobile delta 88. crossing the divide when the physical incarnations of the marveland dc universes suddenly become aware of each other in 1996, each prepares their championsto do battle. but after the fighting is done, neither sidewill admit defeat. so, they do the next best thing: both universesmerge. batman and wolverine become dark claw.
iron man and green lantern become, very creatively, iron lantern. but the most powerful being in the new, "amalgamuniverse" is dr. strangefate, a combination of marvel's dr. strange, dc's dr. fate, and— in a twist reveal — professor x, who ultimately plays the story's main antagonist. strangefate wants to prevent the universesfrom being separated in order to maintain his power, but ultimately, the universes reconcile, and what's left of the original dr. strange pulls through and traps the whole amalgamuniverse in its own pocket dimension. perhaps one day we'll see the return of…thorion of the new asgods. eh, no thanks.
batter up the adventures of dr. strange haven't gottenany less crazy over the years. more recently, while taking in a baseballgame, dr. strange discovers that demons have actually staged the event to win the soulsof the human players — because of course they have. a demonic baseball game in the netherworldcommences, which is basically a crappier version of space jam, with strange batting for thehuman team. the doctor manages to get a run for the goodguys, setting the human players free and sending strange home to contemplate what other fiendishplans his enemies have laid out for him.
like maybe a really evil game of minigolfor something. thanks for watching! subscribe to our youtube channel to watchmore videos like the one you just saw. and leave us a comment to let us know whichmoments in the history of dr. strange you think are the most insane...
